Marianne appreciated dance. Once when she was a child her parents gave her a special gift, which she could pick out herself. She chose a ballet performance in Chicago. She saved the memorial program, which was a special keepsake. After she died I found a number of dance movies and series on her Netflix queue, including One Last Dance.
It was a love story, featuring Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Niemi. Both the story and the compelling concluding dance sequence made an impression on me that is difficult to convey in words. It unlocked a door for me, as recounted in my poem “The Open Door“.
