When the Dawn Fails to Come

Today I was reflecting on the durability of difficult states of mind. Pain is real, not make believe. And it can last a long time. I have felt it. But I do believe that there are longer cycles and there will come an end to even the most difficult of states.

When the Dawn Fails to Come

 It is the longest night
 That you have ever known
 It is the long loneliness
From the absence of your beloved
 It has been so long
That even your tears have deserted you
And all that remains is dull ache
 But even as you write
You sense the presence of a larger cycle
Not only are there days and nights
 There are seasons
 And something within tells you
There will come an end even
 To this polar night.
