Many Arrows

I love the concluding poem of my trilogy of “arrow” poems (written over a span of 31 years), because it is so clearly about Marianne and me together.

I thought I had a single arrow
Now I glimpse the truth
My love and I have many arrows
There are many rays from the resplendent sun
Many words of hope and consolation to spread
Many little deeds of love to perform
Many candles to lighten the darkness
Many joys to feel and share
For this universe is large
Its secrets beyond our mortal grasp
And the pathway is long
But we have much time to traverse it
We have only just begun.
