The Other Hiker

My iPhone gave me a gift today! It created a photo memory of trips to Blowing Rock, a place Marianne and I loved to visit. Since then I’ve made a number of trips there by myself and written some poems there. “The Other Hiker” is one of them. Enjoy the video and poem. Happy holidays!

The Other Hiker

I have walked these trails with my beloved
Now I walk them alone
I have cried many tears
I miss you so very much.

Today I neared the top of my hike
I heard the sound of movement
Was it another hiker?
The sound was too faint
Then I saw him!
A squirrel bounding up the mountainside
I smiled and I no longer
Felt quite so alone.
