My Cry for Help

I hesitated to post this poem, then I knew I needed to. It is part of my journey and provides a context for poems that followed. And it shares energy with a previous post of my very early poem Newborn in the Light.

My Cry for Help

It is an unexpected stirring
I did not think I would write so straight
You see, I have learned to wear a mask
I thought it protected me
I had friends and accomplishments
I was even admired
But inside there was sadness and confusion
No way do I want to show it
My friends have sorrow enough of their own
And so I kept it hidden
(Though I showed a little to those closest to me.)

Now I am beginning to understand
Writing as I do this evening hour
There is a journey I need to take
As finally I give voice
To my cry for help.

  1. I am here for you. Anytime. Always. I dont know how to give without trying to fix but I will listen now that my voice is gone.
    Anytime, friend.
